Everyone knows (at least we should know) that a presidential poll taken over a year before an election, especially before there is even a good indication on who will be running on the Democrat side, should not be taken seriously.  The Sept. 2-5, 2019 Washington Post-ABC News Poll is no exception, but we can see how dishonest the media is if you spend a few minutes looking at it.

I first did not want to waste time looking at it, but I was curious, so I looked at the numbers and did a few calculations.

The poll claims that all the top Democrat presidential candidates will beat Trump, Biden has a 15 point lead!  Party identification across the United States is around 30% Republican, 30% Democrat, and 40% Independent/Other.  So, that’s roughly the percentage the pollster used to conduct this poll…JUST KIDDING!

The poll samples 45% Democrats.  15% more than they should have, therefore Biden beats Trump by 15%.  I am sure there are other shenanigans in that poll, like only a little over 80% Republicans support the president (while Trump is packing stadiums), but given my view that these polls are meaningless, I did not want to spend a lot of time digging into it.
